Mardi Himal Trek

Mardi Himal is located just east of one of Nepal’s most famous trekking destinations, the Annapurna Base Camp trek. The Mardi Himal trek is a hidden gem. Few trekkers make their way to the Mardi Himal Base Camp outstandingly positioned at the base of Mardi Himal and the Annapurna region’s most iconic mount Machapuchhre literally meaning “Fish tail”. The trail winds through enchanted rhododendron forests until it emerges from the forest at an elevation of around 3,300 meters. The landscape abruptly changes into a rugged high mountain landscape with spectacular views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.

From High Camp (3580 m; some maps incorrectly list 3900 m), it takes about 3-4 hours to reach Mardi Himal Base Camp, which offers spectacular close-up views of the entire Annapurna Range. Along the way, there are simple guesthouses and homestays.
